Unwritten Wheels of Fate

resin, laser cut mirrorplex, dried fowers, herbal fowers, chain

This piece is a continuation of my series “Women’s Fates Broken on the Wheel”, previously featured at the am Projects – Fortuna Burns exhibition. The central motif of the series is the wheel of fortune, symbolizing life’s randomness, the turning points of fate, and the impact of societal expectations on women’s roles.

The series includes the “Unwritten Wheels of Fortune”, which strongly emphasize that we all have the right not to be judged. These works encourage individuals to write their own luck, to shape the wheel of their lives, breaking away from social determinism. True equality can only be achieved when individuals are free to shape their own destinies, beyond external expectations and prejudices.

Each station of the wheel reveals different female archetypes, highlighting their origins and the social conditions that led to their stigmatization. Just as, in the past, the physical breaking on the wheel inflicted cruel suffering, so too do societal stigmas and injustices affect the lives of women – and likewise, men – in ways that are brutally impactful, whether psychologically or symbolically.

The aim of the artwork is to challenge viewers’ perspectives, foster understanding, and promote equality.
