DOMINÓ EFFECT

The artwork examines the stereotypes associated with the upbringing of men and women, as well as their social consequences, through the metaphor of a domino game. The central question of the series is how expectations tied to gender roles become ingrained from childhood and how they shape power dynamics between men and women in adulthood.

The sequence of dominoes symbolizes the interlinked, self-perpetuating social patterns that build upon one another. For example, girls are often raised to be obedient and caring, while boys are granted more freedom — and their aggression is frequently tolerated. The project highlights that these differing role patterns are not “natural” traits but learned constructions passed down through generations.

The playful formal language of the installation models both the consequences of personal decisions and the chain reactions of social norms. The falling dominoes make visible the metaphor of cause and effect: how stereotypes can lead to emotional, social, and even legal consequences.

The project emphasizes that these differences are not individual reactions but deeply rooted social conditioning. The domino metaphor thus refers both to how stereotypes become tied to personal decision-making and to how society continually reproduces hierarchical relations between men and women.

The suspended domino elements floating on chains within the exhibition space symbolize the rigid, slowly eroding patterns of social structures. The contrast between dynamic and static components highlights the tension between the possibility of change and the stubborn persistence of ingrained norms.

The DOMINO EFFECT installation series is not only a critique of gender stereotypes but also an interactive space for reflection, where viewers can experience the phenomenon of the domino effect through their own decisions. The project aims to reveal how personal choices and social norms are tightly interwoven — their outcomes potentially liberating, yet at times destructive.

A mű a férfi- és női neveltetéshez kapcsolódó sztereotípiákat, valamint azok társadalmi következményeit vizsgálja a dominójáték metaforáján keresztül. A műegyüttes központi kérdése, miként épülnek be a nemi szerepekhez kötődő elvárások már gyerekkortól kezdve, és hogyan határozzák meg ezek a férfiak és nők közötti hatalmi dinamikákat a felnőttkorban.

A dominók sorozata az egymásra épülő, újratermelődő társadalmi mintázatokat szimbolizálja. Például azt, hogy a lányokat gyakran engedelmességre és gondoskodásra nevelik, míg a fiúknak nagyobb szabadságot engednek, sőt az agressziót is sokszor elfogadják tőlük. A projekt arra mutat rá, hogy ezek az eltérő szerepminták nem „természetes” adottságok, hanem tanult, generációkon át öröklődő konstrukciók.

A műegyüttes játékos formavilága egyszerre modellezi a személyes döntések következményeit és a társadalmi normák láncreakcióit. A dominók egymásra dőlése az ok-okozati viszonyok metaforáját teszi láthatóvá: hogyan vezethetnek a sztereotípiák érzelmi, társadalmi, sőt jogi következményekhez.

A projekt hangsúlyozza, hogy e különbségek nem egyéni reakciók, hanem mélyen gyökerező társadalmi beidegződések. A dominó metaforája így egyszerre utal a sztereotípiák döntésekhez való kötöttségeire és arra is, miként termeli újra a társadalom a férfi–női alá- és fölérendeltségi viszonyokat.

A kiállítótérben láncokon lebegő rögzített dominó elemek a társadalmi struktúrák nehezen lebomló, szilárd mintázatait szimbolizálhatják. Egyszerre dinamikus és statikus elemek kontrasztja a változás lehetősége és a berögzült normák makacssága közötti feszültséget hangsúlyozza.

A DOMINÓHATÁS térinstalláció sorozat darabjai nem csupán a nemi sztereotípiák kritikái, hanem egy interaktív reflexiós tér részei is, ahol a nézők saját döntéseiken keresztül élhetik meg a dominóhatás jelenségét. A projekt célja, hogy láthatóvá tegye: személyes választásaink és a társadalmi normák szorosan összefonódnak — s ezek kimenetele lehet felszabadító, de akár romboló is.
